For 44 years, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade & Festivities Committee has annually organized and presented innovative, entertaining MLK Holiday events that commemorate the life and legacy of the civil rights icon. Rooted in Dr. King’s dream and vision, this celebration and all our organizational efforts are predicated on empowering a new generation of powerful, positive, social change-makers to create freedom and justice for all people who suffer inequality.

Our 2021 theme is “Power In The People.” We endeavor to encourage everyone to go beyond simple appreciation of the tenets of love and mutual cooperation that Dr. King espoused to actively live and promote those philosophies so that together, we can create a harmonious, equitable, and prosperous world.
Given the Coronavirus pandemic, on Monday, January 18, 2021, this year’s parade--which is the oldest and largest signature MLK event in the U.S.--will be presented virtually. It will once again draw record viewership and garner extensive national media through this cutting-edge broadcast collaboration by WPLG 10 TV and WLRN/PBS.
